There is a different feel in the air when Fall arrives! Mornings are crisp, leaves start changing and the birds start making plans to fly south to warmer climates in the winter. The Lake of the Ozarks is beautiful all year long, but especially in the fall.  With all the beauty that the Autumn season offers us, there are things to be aware of and take proper precautions for the safety of you and your family during the changing weather. It's BikeFest at the Lake of the Ozarks!

It's that time of year! Lake of the Ozarks is home to the ULTIMATE BikeFest experience and it all happens this week, September 14th - 18th 2022. Motorcycle enthusiasts will be riding in from all over the United States for this, the 16th Annual Lake of the Ozarks BikeFest.   The Lake West Chamber of Commerce knows that our thriving area offers breathtaking scenery to ride in the open air through the rolling hills of the Lake of the Ozarks. There are over 300 biker-friendly bars, restaurants, hotels, and campgrounds to enjoy this yearly event, complete with music, great food, shopping, and more! BIKFEST HISTORY The Lake of the Ozarks BikeFest  began in 2006 and was started by local businesses for riders from all over the United States to get to know and experience the Lake of the Ozarks and surrounding areas. The early years of the BikeFest brought anywhere from 2,500 to 3,000 riders. Today, celebrating its 16th year, there are expected to be more than 125,000 attendees riding in

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT LABOR DAY!

Labor Day is often referred to as the unofficial end to the summer season, but there is a much more important meaning to this holiday weekend! The Lake West Chamber of Commerce knows the importance of this holiday weekend, and would like to share some interesting facts about how it got its start! Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday in September since it was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century. It became an official federal holiday in 1894. This annual holiday was created to pay tribute to the economic and social achievements of American workers. The holiday founders were looking for a way to unify union workers and a reduction in work time. The average work time in the 1800s was 70 hours per week on average, and the work week was a full seven days! The first Labor Day was held in New York City when organizers declared a temporary one-day strike. Those workers involved in the strike were to march in a parade, then have a giant picnic afterward complete
