KEEP IT “REEL” THIS WEEKEND!

Get ready to cast your line this weekend at the upcoming Kids Fishing Derby put on by the Lake West Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Captain Ron’s! Our youth are the future of our community, and we love to be involved with events that get them excited and involved. Continue reading to learn more details about this upcoming event taking place this Sunday, September 11th!


11th ANNUAL KIDS FISHING DERBY

This special event for the kids takes place at Captain Ron’s and is free and open to the public. This is made possible by our fantastic sponsors that deserve a shout-out for their support: Mortgage Headquarters, Renken Law Firm, 96.7 The Cove, 104.9 Classic Country, KRMS 97.5 & 103.3, 93.5 Rocks, Ozark Bait & Tackle, Poly Lift Boat Lifts, Jack’s Sporting Goods, LakeTV, Westside Escrow, Buccaneer Bay, Sunrise Abstracting & Title Services, Inc., Scallywags and the Tiered Members of the Lake West Chamber of Commerce. A special thanks to the many volunteers who help with the setup, registration, and donation of prizes and supplies so each child who participates will receive something! There are groups for anglers ranging in age from 1 to 14, and awards are given in all four age categories.


OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE KIDS FISHING DERBY
  • Must bring a life jacket for each child
  • Must bring a rod & reel for each child (bait is provided)
  • Children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult  
  • Fishing is allowed from Captain Ron’s docks or shoreline only
The Kids Fishing Derby is a great way to get your kids involved in fishing. Whether your kids have been casting lines for a while, or it’s their first time, this tournament provides an excellent opportunity to learn the skill of fishing and spend a fun day in the great outdoors! Remember, this event is FREE and FUN, and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Gather your family and friends and head our way this Sunday for the Kids Fishing Derby! Registration begins at 12:00 pm, and the tournament runs from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Grab a cold beverage and a bite to eat at Captain Ron’s, pull up a chair, and watch these little anglers in action.
