For Your Employees

You've done everything in your power to help keep your place of business clean and your employees safe, but someone still tests positive for COVID-19. Now what?

Here are a few important tips to help you navigate dealing with a positive case in your workforce...

  • Flexible Sick Leave:
Ensure that your sick leave policies are flexible. Consistent with public health guidance, also permit employees to stay home to care for a sick family member, and make sure employees are aware of these policies.
  • Empower Local Decisions:
Businesses with more than one location are encouraged to provide local managers with the authority to take appropriate actions based on the conditions in each locality.
  • Travel Precautions:
Ensure employees who become sick while traveling understand that they should notify their supervisor and promptly call a healthcare provider for advice if needed.
  • Separate the Sick:
The CDC recommends that employees who appear to have acute respiratory illness symptoms (i.e. cough, shortness of breath) upon arrival to work, or who become sick during the day, should immediately be separated from other employees and sent home.
