Get involved, donate, attend local events... There are a lot of ways to get involved and make a difference in your community. Camdenton Optimist Club


"Through Optimist Clubs, volunteers conduct positive service projects for children in communities throughout the world. (They) develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world."

Camdenton VFW


"The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, Guard and Reserve forces. Founded in 1899 and chartered by Congress in 1936, the VFW is the nation's largest organization of war veterans and its oldest major veterans organization. With more than 1.7 million VFW and Auxiliary members located in more than 6,800 Posts worldwide, 'NO ONE DOES MORE FOR VETERANS.' The VFW and its Auxiliaries are dedicated to veterans’ service, legislative advocacy, and military and community service programs."

Children's Learning Center


"The mission of Children’s Learning Center of Camden County is to promote child development through friendships and family. Children’s Learning Center is a nonprofit organization that provides inclusive programming and comprehensive services to all Camden County children, with and without disabilities or developmental delays, guiding them toward a successful future by meeting and enhancing their intellectual, social, and physical needs in a supportive, developmentally appropriate manner."

Citizens Against Domestic Violence


"CADV/VOC, established in 1984, is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, shelter, advocacy, and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence. The highly committed Board of Directors, staff and volunteers provide the information, tools, resources, and support that empower victims to make and sustain positive choices in their lives. These changes lead to the happiness and security of a life free from violence."

Dogwood Animal Shelter 


"(They) provide care and shelter to the homeless pets of our community, reduce their numbers through spay and neuter, promote humane treatment of all animals, and enhance the human-animal bond."

They also have the Dogwood Thrift Shop – the shelter’s six-day-a-week, year-round fundraiser. You can donate several different kinds of items to help raise funds for the operation of the animal shelter and "real help and hope for our four-legged friends in need!"

Forget Me Not Horse Rescue


Their mission is "to provide aid and sanctuary to abused, neglected, abandoned or surrendered horses that come to us. We work with law enforcement and other agencies in their efforts to rectify situations in which horses are in peril, and provide horses in our Sanctuary with needed medical care and proper nutrition." 

Forget Me Not "provides a safe and secure environment where horses can heal emotionally and physically. Where they can transition to the next phase of their life – as a permanent resident here or in a pre-approved forever home."

Habitat For Humanity


Habitat for Humanity's vision: "A world where everyone has a decent place to live." 

"Since becoming an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in 1997, (they) have helped low-income families living in sub-standard housing achieve their dream of home ownership. ... (They) encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin."

Idiots Club


"Founded by Denny and Danna Hiner, the Charity’s mission statement is: The Jesters of Goodwill dedicated to helping youth in-need in the Lake area. The primary goal is to improve the self-esteem of in-need children by providing basic needs and making it possible for them to participate in school or community activities.

The Idiots Club charity has supplied track and football shoes, art supplies, wood for shop projects, dental and eye care, over 1000 pairs of shoes, fumigation for bed bugs, Buddy Pack food for kids, clothing(lots), sports participation fees, choir and band trip expenses, band instruments, car batteries and tires for working kids, hygiene products, Dual Credit Tuition Scholarships and the list goes on and on!"

Kids Harbor


"Kids’ Harbor, Inc. is a child advocacy center serving the Lake of the Ozarks area in Central Missouri, Fort Leonard Wood, and surrounding areas. This agency assists victims of child abuse and their safe caregivers as they make their way through the difficult and often frightening process of a child abuse investigation.

Services are provided, at no cost, to children, ages 0-18, who are referred by Children’s Division of Missouri Department of Social Services, Juvenile Authorities, and /or Law Enforcement. Most referrals involve reports of sexual abuse but also include physical and emotional abuse as well as physical and medical neglect, witnesses to violence and drug endangered children."

Laurie/Sunrise Beach Rotary Club


The Laurie-Sunrise Beach Rotary Club maintains an active involvement in the community. Each year our club provides scholarships to local colleges or vocational/technical school-bound high school students. Our Club is also involved in the yearly Rotary Student Exchange Program, providing housing and support to an incoming student from another country.

Each year the club also sponsors a local high school sophomore or junior to attend a three-day leadership training program at the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. The curriculum provides hands-on experience emphasizing citizenship, service to others, communication techniques, personal awareness and growth, and leadership skills."

Make a Wish Foundation 


"Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Since its inception in 1983, Make-A-Wish® Missouri & Kansas has granted more than 8,800 wishes for children battling critical illnesses. Our chapter serves every community throughout Missouri and Kansas."

Ozark Coast Kiwanis 


"Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis Club Ozark Coast serves the Osage Beach and Lake Ozark region. Our club members are service-minded men and women from all segments of the the community. We meet every first and third Wednesday from 11:30am to 12:30pm for lunch, fellowship, discussion of club business, and a program presented by community business people on topics of interest such as community issues, public affairs, service, or entertainment."

Wonderland Camp


"The mission of Wonderland Camp is to provide a fun, educational, and safe camp experience for children, teenagers, and adults who have disabilities; to offer a respite from daily care-giving for their family members and caregivers; and to provide and nurture a personal development experience for volunteers and staff."

Lake West Chamber of Commerce
