As the promoter of businesses on the West Side of the Lake of the Ozarks, we want to share a few details about this exciting upcoming event!
Small Business Saturday happens every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was a campaign started in 2010 by American Express. It was intended to assist small business owners to promote their products and wares, and to gain exposure in the community! In 2011, Washington State mayors, senators, and governors shared their support, and it became an official day to be recognized!
Small business owners were offered free, personalized ads to advertise on the web. This was a service offered by American Express in 2012, which boosted sales to an estimated $5.5 billion nationwide. This very important day has continued to grow every year because of communities celebrating this “holiday” and supporting their local shop owners, and the West Side of the Lake is no exception.
Why shop small?Local business owners offer an extension of who they are, and why their community is important, so by shopping small and local it keeps the area alive and thriving!
This Saturday, buy some locally made pies and pastries – catch up will fellow shoppers at a coffee shop – visit local boutiques for the perfect holiday outfit and accessories. There might not be enough time in the day to visit all your local shops, so keep the trend going straight through the holidays and into the New Year!
