Starting October with Two Great Events

The first weekend of October at the Lake of the Ozarks is full of family fun. Amateur anglers will travel to the lake for the Big Bass Bash and families will flock to Versailles for the Olde Tyme Apple Festival. If you love fishing grab your fishing rods and head to water this weekend for your chance to win the big bucks but if you're looking to enjoy a wonderful festival Versailles in the place to go. This week’s blog will tell you all the details of each event. 

Big Bass Bash

The Big Bass Bash is one of the largest bass fishing tournaments in the nation. The event is a great way for amateurs to win a large amount of money like the pros. The Big Bass Bash is October 5th & 6th from 7 am to 3 pm each day. The awards ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday the 6th at PB #2 (Grand Glaize State Park). To register for the tournament, you have a few options. You can register online at https://midwestfishtournaments.wufoo.com/forms/m2yvw8e1vbhnjs/ or Friday, October 4th you can register in person at the Grand Glaize State Park (PB2). There will be several vendors set up throughout the day that you can check out. Friday registration will run from 12 pm - 8 pm. Anglers can also register Saturday and Sunday at any of the weigh-in locations starting at 6 am. Weigh-in locations are PB2, Red Oak Resort, Alhonna Resort, Point Randall Resort, and Ivy Bend Resort. 

Entry Fees:

• 2 day - $180 1 day - $130
• 17 and younger receive half off-entry fee
• Kids Division: $10 per day

Over $255,000 guaranteed payout!

Top 4 biggest bass of the weekend will win:

• 1st place - $100,000
• 2nd place - $20,000
• 3rd place - $10,000
• 4th place - $5,000

A total of 280 places are paid!

Olde Tyme Apple Festival

This is the 40th year of the festival and will be a 2-day event this year, October 5th and 6th.

8 am Parade Check-In – Morgan Co. R-II School (Enter via Westvue Dr)

9 am Fun Zone for Kids Opens – Corner of Jasper & Krekel

9 am Vendor Booths Open – Downtown Versailles Square

9 am-4 pm Museum Open for Tours – Monroe Street

9 am-5 pm Quilt Show – Bank of Versailles Courtesy Room 119 N Fisher

10 am Parade Starts Hwy. 52 – Morgan Co. R-II School

11:45 am Marching Band Contest Awards – Main Stage

12:00 pm Pie Baking Contest Auction – Main Stage

12:30 pm Staff for Life Helicopter Lands – Across from Fire Station

1-5 pm Finley River Boys Perform – the Main Stage

1 pm Olde Tyme Fiddler’s Contest – Versailles United Methodist Church

5 pm Vendor Booths Close – Downtown Versailles Square

6:30 pm Figure 8 Scramble, Powder Puff Scramble, Kids Power Wheels, and Demolition Derby – Fairgrounds/Hwy. 52

7 pm Newsies Apple Festival Play –  Royal Theatre

8 am Community Worship Service – Jasper Street (in front of Scriver-Morrow)

9 am Vendor Booths Open – Downtown Versailles Square

12 pm Olde Tyme Apple Festival Golf Tournament – Rolling Hills Country Club

2 pm Newsies Apple Festival Play Matinée – Royal Theatre

4 pm Vendor Booths Close – Downtown Versailles Square
